Peer Coaches Heading link
AAAN’s peer coaches re-experienced UIC students who conduct outreach, including special campaigns, to a caseload of students via (various methods) phone, email or in person. They provide one-on-one peer coaching sessions to students via phone, Skype, or in person. In addition, they serve as a resource and proactively communicate with individual students to help with retention.
Peer coaches provide guidance and information regarding engagement within and connections to the university.In this role, they have the responsibility of documenting their interactions and outreach with students by doing the following:
- Attend trainings prior to the semester and attend regularly scheduled, weekly meetings.
- Provide reports to supervisors.
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and collaborators regarding student retention issues, academic success and involvement.
- Model the effective use of essential learning strategies, time management, and organizational tools for each student
